Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen, chief music writer for the daily newspaper Morgunblaðið, curates the concert series, which sees two bands take the stage per evening. On May 10, the three-piece folk pop band 1860 and Faroese singer/songwriter Eivör Pálsdóttir will entertain the crowd. 1860 are not as old as their name may suggest. The band started off as a side project in 2009, gradually making a name for themselves with songs that range from cheesy ballads to lush jazz/rock compositions, even incorporating a folk/pop element. The second act of the night, Eivör Pálsdóttir, enchants the audience with her distinct voice. Her roots lie in the Faroese ballads, but the singer combines them with rock, jazz, folk, pop, and European classical music.

Facts about WOW Cyclothon:

• The race is a relay race around the entire country on highway 1A. 30 km per hour average speed will bring teams home in less than 48 hours. Registration is open to everyone but there will be a 72 hours cut-off time.

• Each team consists of 4 bikers and one or two drivers. Teams arrange for their own support vehicle. Only one support vehicle is allowed.

• Registration fee is ISK 50.000 (approximately USD 400) for a non-branded team of individuals and ISK 250.000 (approximately USD 2.000) for branded, corporate teams.
• Corporate sponsorships go directly to Save the Children Iceland.
